Driveways and Driveway Aprons

Deciding on a driveway material used to be simple: asphalt or concrete. The choices today have expanded to include an astounding array of decorative options. Decorative concrete is one of the most reasonable ways to enhance the entrance of your home.

Although plain gray concrete is used most often, more people are catching on to the dazzling effects possible with decorative concrete—and seeing the instant curb appeal a decorative driveway can give to any home. The concrete industry has introduced many products and methods that can rejuvenate or resurface existing plain-gray driveways.
Customize designed driveways with stamped concrete, such as cobblestone, flat and smooth surfaces. Color stain the concrete surface to create a unique and elegant look to your home at a low cost.

The concrete requirements for an average driveway are 4” thick with 3000 PSI concrete mix.

A driveway apron is the area at the beginning of your driveway paving where it meets the street. A driveway entry is an important element of landscape design. It should be attractive and inviting, creating a welcoming setting. By adding a patterned color design, or brick pavers with a border to highlight the entrance, your home will stand out. Depending on the driveway paving that is being used, driveway aprons can be similar or completely different material from the rest of the driveway surface; therefore it becomes a special entry area. It is a nice touch to add. Since it is a small area, it is usually not too expensive.

An average dimension for a driveway entry area is 10 to 15 feet long from the beginning of the drive at the street. The width is as wide as the rest of your driveway, which is usually anywhere from 10 feet for a single car driveway to 20 feet for a double driveway. Driveways normally flair out at the entry, this creates a comfortable turning radius for cars.
